Today you will start your designs. You must use your sketches and inspiration pieces to help you start your design. If you haven't turned your brainstorming in, you currently have a 0 for your brainstorming. That needs to be completed before you start. Projects are due in 3 class periods.

You are going to start your last project before you start your Final project. You will have a choice between 3 different project themes for this project. Before we get started, we are going to discuss some design concepts.

Today you should me moving onto selecting a body and clipping the body out with the pen tool will be the easiest way to do this step. Before you get started, Mr. Wiant will quickly show you how to properly blend your head and body.

First 30 Mins:

You will have the first 30 mins. to complete your Clipping Mask project and then you will turn them in. The remainder of the class will be used to continue the zoo portrait.

Photoshop Clipping Mask ~ Critique Stage

This peer critique and reflection is for a grade, so take your time to complete this correctly. After the critique, you will continue to work to revise your designs. You will have about 30 mins next class to finalize and turn your projects in. 

 

Remember, a critique should include the following:

1. An explanation of your answer using specific details.

2. Critical feedback, but not mean feedback.

3. Helpful feedback to improve your partner’s project.

Today you will complete your sketches in the first 30mins of class. Everyone will start on their designs after. Make sure you search for large images and you pay close attention to accuracy. We will review the project setup directions and rubric before you start.

Pop Art Reflection & Photoshop Masks

We will be learning about Photoshop masks today, after you complete your reflections. Masks allow for creative designs in Photoshop and can be very useful and powerful if you understand how to use them correctly. We will cover a few slides about masks and then you will start to learn about them by completing four short tutorials.

  • Create a new folder in your Final and name it “Masks”. Then create a new Doc in that folder and title it “Mask Notes”.

Pop Art Design ~ Critique & Finalize Stage

We are going to do our first critique today. After the critique, you will continue to work on your designs.

 

Purposes of a Critique: 

1. To give very specific and critical feedback on a project. 

2. To take very specific and critical feedback to revise and strengthen a project. 

 

After Critique Revision:

You will need to turn in your project by the end of class. Make sure you turn all files in at the end of the class correctly and your rubric too. We will go over the directions now. You should be spending the rest of class revising and making your designs stronger.

Pop Art ~Design Stage

We will start class by watching a few short videos about pop art so you have a better understanding behind this medium. You will start next class with critique feedback and then finish your projects. Projects are due at the end of next class.

We will be going over the pop art project and you will brainstorm and begin the designs today. We will first watch a quick pop art video.

Continue to work on the rocket assignment today. We will be going over the introduction of our next assignment later in class.

Clipping Path Final Assignment 

Both of your assignments are due at the end of class. Make sure you renamed your cake and stop sign layers correctly. Review the rubric to make sure you have done both assignments correctly too. Don't lose points for turning these in late!

You will be working on two assignments that will showcase your pen tool skills. Your accuracy needs to be 100% so take your time to review your paths and to correct them.

Pen Tool & Clipping Paths

Today you will learn all about the pen tool in Photoshop. This tool can be an extremely frustrating tool to learn, but it is one of the most useful tools you will learn in Photoshop. It is very important you watch Mr. Wiant’s tutorial BEFORE you try to use the tool yourself so you don’t get lost while learning this tool.

Intro to Photoshop Nature Assignment

Today you will complete a quiz assignment to show what you have learned throughout these tutorials. Directions can be found on the Assignment page.

 

Monday 9/9 & Tuesday 9/10

All tutorials and the quiz need to be completed today. Complete the extension tutorials once you are done. This will prepare you for your final quiz, which will be next class. But first, Mr. Wiant will be going through some tips in Photoshop and reviewing the quiz from last week.

Welcome to Photoshop

You will be starting a series of Photoshop tutorials today. These tutorials are very important for you to learn the basics of Photoshop and prepare you to move on to our first project. Directions can be found on the Assignment page.

Presentation Day

We will present our designs to the class today. Each student will need to stand up front, say their name and explain their design. Please make sure to speak up so everyone in the class can hear you and look at your audience. We will first go through how to properly save your designs.
