We will be watching a short video about logo design and then you will be writing a reflection on it. Character Tutorial

You will be working on a few tutorials to learn how to create characters in Illustrator. The next project is to create a robot character and this will better prepare you.

Color Pattern ~ Revise Stage

Make any changes or adjustments you need to to your designs. The project is due today.

 

Before turning this in, go back to the Hexagon Video Tutorial on the Project page and watch the video from 17:30 mins. This will show you how to create a clipping mask to “cut off” the shapes that stick off of your canvas. You will lose points if you don’t do this. We will go over how to save this correctly at the end of class.                       

 

Extension Project

If you complete at least two designs, you can work on this Illustrator extension project to continue to grow your Illustrator skills.

You will complete your Color Wheel Assignment by the end of next class. Make sure you turn your files in correctly, along with your rubric. Once you have completed your assignment and turned it in, work on the extension activities to learn how to create additional elements in Illustrator.

Today we will be going through some housekeeping and reflections before learning about Color and our new program, Adobe Illustrator. We will be going through a few slides and notes about Illustrator and the Color Wheel. You will then start an exercise in Illustrator.

Pop Art Reflection & Photoshop Masks

We will be learning about Photoshop masks today, after you complete your reflections. Masks allow for creative designs in Photoshop and can be very useful and powerful if you understand how to use them correctly. We will cover a few slides about masks and then you will start to learn about them by completing four short tutorials.

We are going to do our first critique today. After the critique, you will continue to work on your designs.

 

Purposes of a Critique: 

1. To give very specific and critical feedback on a project. 

2. To take very specific and critical feedback to revise and strengthen a project. 

 

After Critique Revision:

You will need to turn in your project by the end of class. Make sure you turn all files in at the end of the class correctly and your rubric too. We will go over the directions now. You should be spending the rest of class revising and making your designs stronger.

We will start class by watching a few short videos about pop art so you have a better understanding behind this medium. You will start next class with critique feedback and then finish your projects. Projects are due at the end of next class.

Today you will learn all about the pen tool in Photoshop. This tool can be an extremely frustrating tool to learn, but it is one of the most useful tools you will learn in Photoshop. It is very important you watch Mr. Wiant’s tutorial BEFORE you try to use the tool yourself so you don’t get lost while learning this tool.

We will present our designs to the class today. Each student will need to stand up front, say their name and explain their design. Please make sure to speak up so everyone in the class can hear you and look at your audience. We will first go through how to properly save your designs.
