Pen Tool

Today you will be learning about the pen tool. You will be watching the video tutorial in order to learn the basics and then to recreate the snowman design that you downloaded. Mr. Wiant will be going through the tutorial live, if that helps you too. This is a tough tool to learn, but something that is very useful. Don’t give up on it!

Robot Character Due 

Today is the due date for your Robot. Make sure you have you robot turned in on time with the JPG and AI file. Your rubric also needs to be fully completed. Let Mr. Wiant know when you have this done and then once he checks, you will be dismissed from class. Tomorrow we will learn about the pen tool. Make sure you are here on time!

We are going to go through how to complete your project self evaluation and then you will complete that today. Mr. Wiant will check these once you turn them in to make sure they were completed at a high level. If not, you will need to revise and improve them. You will then make sure you have saved your AI and JPG file correctly to your Robot folder. Directions are on the project page.

If you are not ready to turn you robot in, you need to work on that today and you will need to complete your self evaluation once you turn your work in. All of this is due at the end of day today.

You will complete several tutorials in order to better prepare you to create your own vector character in Illustrator. You can find the directions on the Assignment page. At the end of class you will submit your progress for your attendance.

Color Pattern ~ Revise Stage

Make any changes or adjustments you need to to your designs. The project is due today.

 

Before turning this in, go back to the Hexagon Video Tutorial on the Project page and watch the video from 17:30 mins. This will show you how to create a clipping mask to “cut off” the shapes that stick off of your canvas. You will lose points if you don’t do this.

Today you will be starting your next project by first completing a tutorial that will teach you how to use the tools to create your project. You need to follow the directions very carefully and pay close attention to details or you will be lost. We are going to start today by going through some notes about what Adobe Illustrator is and why we use it. From there you will do an Illustrator tutorial to get a better understanding of Illustrator. You will turn this tutorial into your Misc. folder at the end of class.

This will be down with a raster or layer mask. We will go over this together and then you can watch the video tips that are on the Project page. Photopea is the software we are going to be using while we are doing remote learning. This is very similar to Photoshop, which is what we would be using in class. There will be a series of tutorials and quizzes that you will need to complete to understand the tools and how to use them for your next project. Today you will continue to work on your designs after watching a 5 min Google Draw Demo Video. The goal of today is to revise your designs to make a more organized and creative design while exploring how to me a more impactful title for your design. Follow the steps below in order to be marked present for your attendance today. 

Step 1 - Watch the Google Draw Demo Video.

Step 2 - After watching the video, consider what you can do to your own design to increase the creativity of your project. 

Step 3 - Spend at least 45 mins working on revising and improving your design. This would be the equivalent of the work time you be doing in class. 

Step 4 - Complete the Google Classroom question for your attendance today. You have until Noon to do so.

We will start by looking to see how we find images on Google with transparent backgrounds. Make sure you use the spell check feature to make sure your grammar is correct too.
