Self-portrait ~ Revise & Finalize Stage

A few reminders:

1. Make sure your project is turned in by the end of day to correctly by following the directions on the Project Page. If you don't think you can get it done, you need to text or email Mr. Wiant now!

2. Complete the Rubric Self-Evaluation

3. Turn in any missing work

4. Complete the Attendance Survey for today. 

Check your emails for your final projects grades. Enjoy your break! 

Tuesday 12/15

Self-portrait ~ Revise & Finalize Stage

We will go through the timeline with when projects are due. You do need to complete your rubric self-evaluation or you will lose 5% on your final. Tomorrow there will not be a class Zoom meeting, however, you do need to check the website to complete the survey for your attendance. Any late work needs to be turned in by midnight Wednesday.

Make sure you check that your files are setup correctly by either being 11x17 or 17x11 inches. Tomorrow these projects should be wrapped up. If you are worreid about making the deadline, talk wtih Mr. Wiant today so you can come up with a game plan. Any missing work needs to be completed by the end of day tomorrow.

Portfolio Website ~ Design Stage

Today is the last day you will be working on your websites in this first phase of development. At the end of today you should have your navigation, home page and GD1 gallery page fully completed. If you have that done, you need to review the consistency of your design developments. Tomorrow you will start your final project.

Portfolio Website ~ Design Stage

Continue to work on your designs today. You should be working on your gallery page for GD1/MGD102 today. Check that you have correct titles for your designs. If you complete this, add descriptions and continue to revise and improve the website.

Monday 11/30
Portfolio Website ~ Design Stage

We will start today by finding a template that you want to use for your portfolio and then you will start to play around with the overall look of your design. We will go over how to setup the navigation of our website today too.

Icons ~ Revise & Finalize Stage 

Projects should be wrapped up today. If you need some extra time, take the time over break to complete these and get them turned in. Designs need to be turned in by next Sunday though or they will be late. Make sure you complete the self-evaluation on the Icon Rubric and explain your thoughts clearly and in depth. ​

You should be working on your 2nd or 3rd designs today. Make sure you are zooming in and checking for details.

Continue to work on your designs. You should be wrapping up your first icon today and starting on your second.

Today you will get started with your icons. We will go over setting up your files and the project rubric before you get started. Make sure your brainstorming was turned in correctly.

Monday 11/16

Icons ~ Brainstorming Stage 

You will be creating a series of 4 similar icons for this project. Today you will complete your brainstorming and you will get designing tomorrow. The project is due on Friday.

Vector Characters ~ Finalize Stage 

Today you need to complete your designs and revise your characters to finalize your designs. Once you are done revising, consider how you can enhance the background design or add more details to your characters. Search online for helpful tutorials. Turn in the project correctly by following the directions on the project page. 

You are also being given all next week to complete your project outside of class. Turn your work in by next Friday so it won't be late. Please email Mr. Wiant when you turn it in so he can grade it for you.

Remember to work in an efficient manner by copying and pasting similar elements like the eyes. We will go over the rubric and how to set up the correct size before you get going.

Year 2020 ~ Design Stage

Today you will be working on your own and there is no Zoom class. Everyone must be moving forward with your designs and working on them for at least the hour that you would have class today. Before Noon, you need to complete your attendance task for today, which is below, or you will be marked absent. 

Due by Noon:

You need to save a file of your progress and turn it into your Misc. folder. There needs to be significant progress shown or you will not get credit for class today. You also should have completed your Do-Now on Google Classroom, which will count for your attendance. 

Illustrator 

Go to File>Export As and save the file as a JPG. Select Use Artboards and on the next screen slide the quality slider all the way to the right. Name your file "LastName_ThursProgress". Turn it into your Misc. folder.

Boxy

Go to File>Save As and leave the format as a SVG file. Name your file "LastName_ThursProgress". Turn it into your Misc. folder.

Vectr

Go the Export button on the top-right and Download your file as a SVG file. Name your file "LastName_ThursProgress". Turn it into your Misc. folder.

Year 2020 ~ Design Stage

Before you start today, we are going to go through a few slides to refresh your memory about some of the design concepts. The slides can be found on the resources page too. Today is the last chance to turn in your brainstorming if you haven't already. 

Thursday Class - You will have asynchronous learning tomorrow. You will need to check in on the class website to see what needs to be completed by the end of the class. There will be an assignment that will be due and that is used for your attendance.

Year 2020 ~ Design Stage

You all will start to create your design today. Make sure you are exploring how you can use the pathfinder tool to blend shapes, play with effects like shadows and gradients and explore the pen tool in Vectr. This will allow you to push your creativity further. If Vectr is not working for you, you can try to use a similar web - https://boxy-svg.com.

Tuesday/Thursday Classes - Since testing is going on both of those days, you will have asynchronous learning. You will need to check in on the class website to see what needs to be completed by the end of the class. There will be an assignment that will be due and that is used for your attendnace. This will be true for both of the days.

Year 2020 ~ Brainstorming Due

Today you will brainstorm for your project, which will be due today. You need to turn the brainstorming in according to the directions on the Assignment page, which we will go over together.

Thursday 10/22

Vectr.com Tutorials

Continue with the Vectr.com Tutorials today. The both need to be completed today. If you have remaining time after walking through the steps of the Tutorial 2, you will need to continue to add items and practice your skills. We will review the project towards the end of class. You have homework tonight. You need to think about what design concept you want to create and be ready to explain that for your Do-Now tomorrow.
